CARBS, ARE THEY THE DEVIL OR A MISUNDERSTOOD ANGEL?

In this day and age carbohydrates seem to be put in the bad basket…….full stop.

why is it that all the nutrition gurus preach low carb or no carb.

Is it just marketing or is it that they are, for some unknown reason trying to convince us that they are the devil without giving any valid reason.

ARE ALL CARBS BAD?

No, not all carbs are bad. their are two types of them, HIGH GI (simple) carbs, these are the ones we should avoid and LOW GI (complex) carbs.these are the go to ones.

The difference is that simple carbs are digested quickly which leads to an insulin spike. (high blood glucose level), which makes you feel full for a short period of time, then leads you to an empty feeling,its like being on a continuous energy rollercoaster. On the other hand complex carbs release glucose into the blood stream a lot slower,  they are fibre dense making you feel fuller longer, you will feel like your on a nice smooth ride. your glucose levels stay on an even level.

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH CONSUMING CARBS.

JUST CHOOSE THE RIGHT TYPE AND EAT THEM AT THE RIGHT TIME.

Avoid simple carbs (unless instant energy is required before and immediately after training). if your looking at optimising your health, increasing your energy levels and curtailing hunger choose complex carbs every time.
